Photo Of The Day: Cro-Mags by Alvin Carillo
This photo comes from Southern California photographer Alvin Carrillo shooting 1980′s legendary hardcore crossover thrash metal band the Cro-Mags with a Canon AF35m and 35mm film that is sold at the 99 cents store playing live @ The Roxy last night that I attended with my 13 year old brother. From Life: “The Pit” - A Film About Crowd Surfing

This is the first of our new weekly life series called “From Life” is a video documentation of anything from a musical sub genre, religious fanatics, porn stars gone wrong, anything. Asides from that news this week video we’ll be focusing on a short film called “The Pit: A Film About Crowd Surfing” that includes frontman Lee Spielman from Trash Talk, another frontman Liam Cormier from Cancer Batsand the different subjects of people taken from the hardcore scene a.k.a. “Crowdsurfers” in this film. To be honest most of the films or videos I see online about crowd surfing is some bullshit PSA from the 1980’s about the dangers of punk music that includes crowd-surfing but to my surprise it’s a personal affectionate opinions. “The Pit” was directed Dave Deparesa an submitted this video a contest held by the energy drink company”Relentless Energy”. The interviews put you in the moment of the hectic crowd, crowd interaction violence and of course where the crowd-surfing takes place as you lift off from your feet onto a sea of people that you can relate to more than your own mother. Everything twines in together in this perfect longing for head smashing at a gig. This is the only piece of relevant documentation of crowd-surfing anywhere.
